BEATS n BASS is my ongoing exploration of rhythm as a physical experience. Drawing from boom bap Hip Hop, stripped-down Techno, the pulse of Batucada, swing-driven Breakbeats, and fragments of Jazz. Sometimes I steal from pop. Even sounds that seem disposable or corny at first can become something unexpectedly rich once they're flipped and cooked with care.
BEATS n BASSは、リズムを身体で感じるものとして捉え直す試みでもある。
Boom Bap Hip Hop、削ぎ落としたTechno、Batucadaの躍動、スウィングするBreakbeats、そしてJazzの断片。時にはポップスからも遠慮なく拝借する。正直、「これはないだろう」と思うような音でも、フリップして火を入れれば、思いがけず旨くなることがある。そうした音楽を行き来しながら、ビートを軸にした音楽を組み立てている。

Sampling is an act of listening across time. Every record, discarded recording, or forgotten fragment contains traces of the people and places from which it emerged. Rather than treating these sounds as objects to be consumed, I approach them as conversations that continue long after their original context has faded. The Latin root of persona—"to sound through"—offers a compelling reminder that our identities have always been carried by sound.
In that sense, music is not simply entertainment, but a way of remembering, connecting, and imagining new relationships between people, cultures, and histories.
サンプリングは、時間を超えて耳を傾ける行為だと思っている。レコードや忘れ去られた録音の断片には、それが生まれた土地や人々の痕跡が今も息づいている。だから僕は、それらを消費するための素材ではなく、時代を越えて続いている対話として向き合いたい。
「persona」という言葉は、ラテン語で「音を通して」を語源に持つと言われている。その話に惹かれるのは、人は昔から音を通して想いを伝え、祭り、踊り、命を祝ってきたからかもしれない。
サンプリングやリミックスは、単に音を組み替える技法ではない。人と文化、そして歴史をもう一度つなぎ直し、新しい関係を紡いでいくための表現なのだと思っている。

BEATS n BASS is an approach.
It treats sampling not simply as a production technique, but as a philosophy of composition.
Emerging from L.A.’s beat scene and informed by Hip Hop, minimal Techno, dub, Batucada, and sound system culture, it uses fragments of existing recordings to create new rhythmic conversations.
Rap appears not as the centerpiece, but as carefully chosen voices carrying memory, critique, and cultural context. The result is beat-driven music made for movement, reflection, and deep listening.
BEATS n BASSは、ジャンルというよりひとつのアプローチ。サンプリングを単なる制作技法ではなく、作曲そのものの思想として捉えている。ロサンゼルスのビートシーンを起点に、Hip Hop、ミニマル・テクノ、ダブ、バトゥカーダ、サウンドシステム・カルチャーなどの影響を受けながら、既存の録音の断片を新たなリズムの対話へと再構成していく。ラップも主役ではなく、記憶や批評性、文化的背景を宿す「声」として機能する。その先にあるのは、身体を動かすだけでなく、思索や深いリスニングにも応えるビートミュージック。
